Bury Family Learning
Bury Council's Family Learning team have delivered courses in our school over the years, so some of you may already know about their service. Due to the current restrictions, face to face classes in schools (and in the adult education centre) have been suspended. However, they will be delivering courses after spring half term entirely online. Courses will address issues surrounding the pandemic and the lockdown which may be affecting parents/carers and children at home.

Interested parents should phone the centre number listed on each sheet, or they can contact Pete directly (his details are also there) if they would like to enrol on a course.
You will notice that the first two courses also have one-off taster sessions, which are then followed by longer full courses; parents who intend to complete the full courses should join the taster sessions first (but do not need to attend the full courses if they wish only to attend a taster session).
All of the courses continue to be free for all parents.

The aim of this course is to help to get parents online, using our school systems, supporting parents to cope with online work and to improve their digital skills. This is a priority now that schooling is being delivered remotely for children. A key issue being flagged up is e-safety, and the course contains units covering this area also.

Healthy Eating on a Budget for Busy Parents
With the issue of child nutrition and school dinners in the news so much recently, and news that food security is now an issue due to the pandemic, this course will give parents who are busy sound information about how to buy food that is cheap and nutritious, and how to prepare meals at home on a budget.

Keeping up with the Kids - Getting to Grips with Primary Literacy (followed by Numeracy) Parents will be given practical support to complete homework tasks and to more fully understand the work that is being sent home that they are now required to support their children with.
